DIY Extra Yarn Snail

DIY Extra Yarn Snail

Do you recognize this? Extra yarn left overs form various knitting projects. It is not really enough to do even a small sweater for a doll.. but if you combine them to something beautiful, like a scarf, a snake or in this case, a soft toy snail for Ellas 6th birthday!

This is how I made mine: (of course it will depend on what kind of yarn you use) I knitted a simple purl stitch with 20 stitches on size 9 needles, approx 1m long using all of my left over yarn. I then sewed it together, inside out and filled it with soft toy filling (from an old cushion). For the snail part I used and old jersey sweater as main fabric, cut two pieces (added 1cm around) sewed it inside out and filled with soft toy filling. Then I sewed the shell and snail together and added some decorative stitches of the eyelashes.

Here is a A3 template to use for the snail part. remember to add 1cm around.
