DIY – Bat halloween costume
I always try to make halloween costumes from things we have at home, to find something to remake or reuse. These bat wings are made from some black fabric that used to be a tablecloth and the head piece is a piece of black felt that is taped onto a headband. For the rest of the outfit you just need some black clothes.
- Black fabric
- Black tape
- Elastic band
Start with measuring your kid. You need to measure the length from hand to hand when having the armes out and the length of the back to get how wide and high the piece of fabric should be. Then you just draw the edges making the batwings shape. If you are using a fabric that doesn’t fray, like fleece, you do not have to hem the edges but since I used cotton fabric I made two pieces and sew them together and turned inside out. Then I attached the elastic bands with some stitches, one smaller loop on each side for the hands and two bigger loops in the top center for the arms.
For the head picece I cut a square and taped it together in the middle with black tape. I then trimmed the edges a bit to make a nice bat shape.
Done! Happy Halloween!
