At the Farm – Birthday Party

November 21, 2018

At the Farm Birthday Party

Last weekend my daughter Clara turned 3 and we had a birthday party with farm animals. We made pig and sheep cupcakes, played “put the tail on the pig” and had pig, cow and rabbit balloons. The pig cupcakes were definitely the most popular and the kids were laughing so hard at the “poop cookies” .

Sheep & Pig Cupcakes

Yield 24 mini

Ingredients

CUPCAKES:
3 eggs
2,5 dl sugar
1 tsp vanilla sugar
50g butter
1 dl sour cream

2 tsp baking powder
4 tbsp cacao powder
a pinch of salt
100g dark or milk chocolate

FROSTING:
60g butter
5 dl icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
100g cream cheese

(food coloring)

Instructions

  • Whip eggs, sugar and vanilla sugar fluffy and white
  • Melt the butter and add the sour cream and mix it with the egg mixture
  • Mix the flour, baking powder, cacao, salt and gently add it to the mix
  • Chop the chocolate and melt it in a bowl over boiling water
  • Add the melted chocolate to the mix
  • Fill the cupcake liners to 2/3
  • Bake in the middle of the oven at 175°C in 15 min.
  • Let cool
  • Mix butter, icing sugar, vanilla sugar, lemon juice and cream cheese
  • Set aside half of the frosting for the sheep (white)
  • Add red food coloring to the rest of the frosting to make it pink for the pigs

Notes

For the decorations I used marzipan which I colored with red and black food coloring. The eyes you can buy readymade and the back of the sheep is white mini meringues.

Poop Cookies

The poop cookies were a fun treat!  At first the kids looked really chocked!

did that mommy say poop?!! What is a poop cookie? No way! Can you eat it?!! Ha ha ha ha! I want one!

These cookies are really easy to make, the kids can totally make them (with a little oven help) themselves.

Party Invites and Favor bags

For the party invites and favor bags I used plain white cards and bags and made a simple house illustration with a black marker. For the cards I cut of the top to make the roof shape and for the favor bags just folded the top and put a piece of tape on the back.

Animal Balloons

To make the animals you just need balloons, colored paper, a black marker, scissors and double sided tape. For the ears I made two cuts and folded back, front, back and then attached it with three pieces of double sided tape. If you buy additional balloon sticks you do not have to buy helium, they stand up anyway and its a nice give away when the kids are leaving the party to pick their favorite animal balloon.
